Review / Comments ::
An interesting and unique concept in contemporary music... Mr. Paul in his collection "Horse Dreams", endeavors to evoke a spirit of the Equine through music. With compositions ranging from an individual horse, as in "For Bucephalus"... To those of certain breeds, "Arabians in the Desert"... This CD covers the Equine World.
While upon first listening, this reviewer found the collection of thirteen compositions rather unremarkable... Additional playing, especially while driving or relaxing, permitted the concentration of attention necessary to appreciate the often subtle, yet complex, interplay of harmonies; tempo; rhythm; and instrumentation that define these works.
Pieces that I found especially well done are tracks:
( 3 ) For Bucephalus
( 6 ) Asian Moon Mare
( 7 ) Magic Ponies
( 11 ) Andalusian Renewal
Like many works that I find myself enjoying more as time passes... "Horse Dreams" has taken a few listening's to come to appreciate. But of the music lover who is willing to challenge their tastes, this collection by Mr. Williams is well worth expenditure.
