Review / Comments ::
I must say, out front, that I am usually ill disposed to compilation albums and those that contain "Excerpts" from larger works. Having said this... I must admit that there are times when one has certain moods, and may desire to revel in the feelings that are generated only by a certain tempo/form/key/instrumentation combination in the music. "Bach's Adagios" provides just such a musical venue. While the Title specifies "Adagios", these are many compositional styles presented here... Albeit, all Bach!
To anyone who has listened to Classical Music, there will be many familiar pieces between the two CD's in this set. All are very soothing and make a perfect accompaniment to Relaxation Session, or a long soak in a hot Bubble Bath.
Interspersed with the purely instrumental compositions, are several from Bach’s choral works. A few may take some "getting use to" for those who are not familiar with Baroque choral vocals. Others... Especially, "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" are soothing, regardless of one's creed. In these works, the words are often superfluous...
Listen and Enjoy the Music!... Both of the Instruments, and the Voice!
